The OIL-IN-ONE Treet-ment

All about cacay

From the heart of the Colombian Amazon comes Cacay

a rare, powerful oil that embodies nature’s intelligence.

From Nature To Your Skin

Nestled within the lush landscapes of Colombia and the Amazon, the seed of the tree Caryodendron orinocense (commonly called “cacay”) is the source of a remarkable oil that has captured the attention of skincare and haircare science alike.

Cold-pressed from its nuts, cacay oil offers a unique composition rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), linoleic acid, natural retinol-analogues and antioxidants — positioning it as one of nature’s most potent multi-purpose beauty elixirs. For example, a study found cacay oil contains around 58.3 % PUFA with a strong emphasis on linoleic acid.

Why XIRÜ’s Cacay Is Different

At XIRÜ we don’t just use cacay oil — we honour its origins, extract it through responsible sourcing, formulate it into an “OIL-IN-ONE” approach, and embed it in rituals that respect both your skin and the planet. Whether face, body or hair, cacay becomes the heart of our formula, ensuring you receive nourishment, renewal and radiance — and we support the forest that gives it life.

Where Nature Meets Science

High polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) content

The very high concentration of linoleic acid and other PUFAs supports the notion of strong lipid-barrier repair and cell-membrane renewal effects, which are important for skin health.

A study found cacay oil contains ~58.3% PUFA, with linoleic acid being especially dominant.

Strong antioxidant and phenolic activity

These antioxidant properties substantiate claims of protection against free radical damage and environmental stress, which align with anti-aging, anti-spot, skin-repair benefits.

The presence of tocopherols (vitamin E isomers) was confirmed in one early study: α, β, γ and δ-tocopherols present, giving antioxidant and UV-absorbing potential.

Emollient Efficiency & Cosmetic Formulation Potential

This supports the story that cacay oil is suitable for skincare/haircare formulations, offering both functional benefits and formulation stability when properly processed.

Comprehensive analysis of Amazonian oils (including cacay) concluded that these species have “quality raw material” potential for cosmetic/biotech industries.

Antibacterial Activity

While not the primary use case for beauty oils, this indicates additional bioactive potential (soothing, barrier support) that may contribute to skin health and scalp/hair applications.

The same characterization paper reported inhibition of bacterial growth: for Bacillus cereus ~44.99% inhibition; Enterococcus faecalis ~27.76%; Staphylococcus aureus ~11.81%.
